Uganda Quick Guide

While most travelers come to Uganda for the famous mountain gorilla trek, the country actually has so much more to provide. Some individuals are still in the dark about Uganda being unsafe but do not worry. At this Uganda travel guide you will read what you need to know before traveling to Uganda. This article is not written by a travel consultant or an expert in the field; instead it's written for people just like you who want to experience the true beauty of Uganda without being afraid of the dangers.

Most tourists and visitors to Uganda will focus their attention on the mountain gorillas in the Gorges National Park and the hundreds of miles of beautiful trails that wind through the parks. While these are definitely fascinating topics, they pale in comparison to one of the greatest attractions that Uganda, and particularly its capital city Kampala, have to offer: the Uganda Beatitudes. While some of the world's tallest mountains such as Mount Everest sit in the Indian Himalayas, the Uganda Beatitudes is in the Indian Ocean. And to get to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which was the tallest mountain in Africa when the ice age ended, you have to trek through the highlands of the central Serengeti plains, where the landscape is one of the most beautiful in the world.

The highlands are not the only thing that make up Uganda, however. The largest cities of Entebbe and Kampala also form an important part of the overall landscape of Uganda. The cities offer everything from shopping to entertainment to dining; and the most popular activities, such as trekking and mountain gorillas, can be found not far from either town. However, the real attraction of Uganda lies in the quiet, unspoiled nature of the region.

The most popular activities in Uganda lie along the river bank and the highlands surrounding it. Here, you can enjoy a wide variety of hiking trails. The most popular trekking route, the Great Migration route, starts from the town of Murchison and goes all the way up to the town of Volcanoe. This route has gorillas, leopards, elephants and many other species of wild animals, all of which you will have a chance to photograph. To make sure that you don't miss your opportunity to see one or more of the aforementioned species on your Uganda safari, it would be wise to consult either an ecotourism Uganda wildlife authority website or your local tour agency.

If you're interested in sleeping and staying around Murchison Falls, there are several options for you. There are many lodges and campsites around Uganda, each with their own unique story to tell. The Kibale Forest Camping Ground, for example, has a beautiful view over the nearby Ngorongoro Crater and offers wonderful lodging. Other camping grounds include the Safari Park Lodge, Hope Valley Lodge, and the Swahili Bures among them the last one of which offers lodgings as well as the option of traveling on a private bus from the camp.

A Uganda travel guide can also give you information on visiting other parts of Uganda. The Chobe National Park is home to millions of colorful birds and other colorful creatures, as are the Selous and Lake Bunyonyi Conservation areas. For those who like wildlife, there's the Gedi Ruins National Park; this is a great place to visit if you're a nature buff. The Boleyja Hills also offers some good hiking spots and camping grounds, and are home to many tribes. The other regions to consider for a Uganda travel guide are the Mount Elgon-Chobe National Park; the Tsavo West and Central Africa Region; the Zambezi basin and Victoria Falls; the northern regions of the Zambezi; the southern regions of the park; and the whole of Southern Tanzania.

If you plan on going to Uganda during the month of August, you'll need to withdraw money or set up your payment plans. As per the law, all US citizens are required to have at least twenty percent of their total income in reserve to cover emergencies in case of a financial loss or liability. This is the majorly enforced rule, and you will usually be issued fines if you are unable to satisfy the requirement. It is not however, a rule that you cannot visit Uganda if you have money to withdraw. The penalties for withdrawing money from an unsecured bank in Uganda are relatively minor compared to the penalties faced by tourists who fail to have at least twenty percent of their total income ready to pay the import tax.

The most attractive aspect of visiting Uganda, in my opinion, is the Gorilla trekking safari. Whether you choose to hike in the national forest or go around in a vehicle, you'll have the opportunity to view wild gorillas in their natural habitat. Hiking around Uganda can also give you a unique insight into the local culture and way of life. While there are many more tourist attractions in Uganda such as the national parks, mountain climbing, museums, and gorilla trekking safaris, you will find that a great way to end your Uganda travel guide is to try the Gorilla trekking safari. With the gorgeous view of the volcanic landscape and the gentle yet energetic pace of the African wilderness, you will have a wonderful experience to take back with you home.
